Daniel Williams - Tutor Birmingham
Daniel - The MVMNT Therapist, is an MSK Pain & Injury Therapist / Strength Coach at Movement Therapy Clinics in Harborne. Some of the services he offers are to do with Pain Management, Rehab, Rehab Training, Sports Performance, Soft Tissue Therapy as well as Personal Training/Coaching 1:1 or small group classes.
Having started his journey as a Personal Trainer when he was 18, then working at Loughborough College while he completed his Engineering Degree at Loughborough University he quickly realized that his passion lay in helping people. So making the career change back to Health and Fitness Industry and paying for all his qualifications himself, he progressed through a Sports Massage Level 3 to Level 4 qualification, where things just didn't quite add up to him about the narratives and explanations that were taught. Due to his skepticism about what he had learnt at Level 3 and 4, he strived to find the best courses and people to learn from doing multiple CPD and Diplomas in many areas including Biomechanics Coaching, the Movement Therapy Diploma, Load Management, S&C for Therapists, Motivational Interviewing and many more. All while working closely with Mike Grice at Movement Therapy Clinics - Harborne for many years now.
He has had the pleasure of working with a wide range of people including the Disabled, Sedentary as well as Professional Athletes. However, due to nature of what we do at Movement Therapy Clinics and the multifaceted approach with up to date, evidenced principles and programming we have had a lot of people come to us as a last resort, having tried many other available avenues available to them. Among these people there seems to be a growing amount of patients with chronic pain and neurological conditions, especially in recent years.
Some of the conditions that Daniel's clients have suffered with while they were working together include Chronic Fatigue and Post Viral Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Chronic/Persistent Pain, Chronic Tendinopathies, Functional Neurological Disorder, Depression and Anxiety to name a few.
Daniel is a firm advocate of the Bio-Psycho-Social model to pain and injury as well as managing the load and capacity of his clients via this approach. Treating each person individually is important as everyone has their own experiences, beliefs and symptoms. They might also have been through a range of other symptoms, not associated to the main goal we are working on. Being aware of the red flags, and when to refer to a healthcare professional in another field, is essential in getting the individual their own best care.
Daniel has been part of the Movement Therapy Team for a number of years and is an experienced practitioner/coach with good links between therapy and fitness, most of the time combing the two on the gym floor and training around pain or injuries with his clients.
He delivers our Taping, Cupping and Instrument assisted module days, as well as doing a lot of work behind the scenes, including marketing, social media and managing guest speakers/lecturers coming to the UK to teach.
Recently we have also announced that along with Mike Grice and Alistair Cunningham, Daniel will be heading up and teaching the first DNM (Dermo-Neuro-Modulation) courses and workshops in the UK.
